Our brains were not designed to make us happy, they were designed to keep us alive. If we were happy all the time, the human race would have died out a long time ago. In any case, we couldn’t be happy all the time because part of happiness comes from the contrast to other, unpleasant emotions like fear, anger and sadness. We are chasing an impossible dream and, ironically, only when we stop chasing can we find peace. Thank you for such a thought-provoking article.
